Situated below the foothills of the spectacular Wasatch Range and just a five minute drive from the University of Utah campus, Salt Lake City is a vibrant metropolitan area that serves as the center of art, music, and culture for Utah. The Utah Symphony Orchestra/Opera, Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Utah Jazz (National Basketball Association), Real Salt Lake (Major League Soccer), and Ballet West all call Salt Lake home.
During the warmer months Salt Lake hosts a Saturday morning farmer’s market as well as outdoor concerts, movies, parades, and festivals.
The annual Sundance Film festival, one of the world’s premier film festivals, takes place in nearby Park City, UT.
Salt Lake City also offers a very affordable living environment, with all the amenities of a modern American city. Although known for being the headquarters of the Mormon religion, downtown Salt Lake City has many new craft breweries such as “Epic Brewing Company” , fine restaurants and bars that cater to many other alternate lifestyles.
The University of Utah, situated at the rim of the valley overlooking downtown Salt Lake City, boasts a beautiful campus, Division 1 athletics (member of the Pac-12 conference), top tier research opportunities, as well as excellent access to the Wasatch mountain front.
